Cash Distribution Solutions

IA Clarington offers a range of flexible cash distribution options.

Who is it suitable for?

Investors looking for predictable, tax efficient monthly cash flow.

Advantages

  • Regular monthly cash flow
  • Tax-efficiency – Investors are able to receive tax-efficient monthly cash flow (return of capital) without redeeming fund units or triggering capital gains.
  • Investment flexibility and choice – Tax-free switching between different Series T options of the same fund.

How do they work?

Funds pay out a regular amount of tax-efficient cash flow on a monthly basis. They offer a target distribution, as a percentage of the previous year end Net Asset Value Per Security (NAVPS). Distributions are reviewed at the end of each year and adjusted if they are outside the target range.

Tax efficiency is gained through the type of distribution. Initially, distributions will be composed of Return of Capital (RoC), helping to maximise investors' after tax cash flow. As invested capital is paid back, distributions will convert to the appropriate mix of capital gains, dividend income and interest income.

Commissions, trailing commissions, management fees and expenses all may be associated with mutual fund investments. Please read the prospectus before investing.

^The distribution rate for the IA Clarington Canadian Dividend Fund Series A is reviewed on a monthly basis. All other distribution rates for the cash distribution funds are reviewed at year-end based on December 31 NAVPS.

The payment of distributions and distribution breakdown is not guaranteed and may fluctuate. The payment of distributions should not be confused with a fund's performance, rate of return, or yield. If distributions paid by the fund are greater than the performance of the fund, then your original investment will shrink. Distributions paid as a result of capital gains realized by a fund and income and dividends earned by a fund are taxable in your hands in the year they are paid. Your adjusted cost base will be reduced by the amount of any returns of capital. If your adjusted cost base goes below zero, then you will have to pay capital gains tax on the amount below zero.

Mutual funds are not guaranteed, their values change frequently and past performance may not be repeated.
